When you need an eVisa (vs exemption)
The Embassy FAQ says: if the purpose is vacation and you will stay less than 60 days, U.S. passport holders don’t need a visa (exemption). If you need a visa, apply for e-Visa at www.thaievisa.go.th.
Typical reasons to use eVisa instead of exemption include longer stays, purposes outside exemption, or categories that require a visa before travel. Confirm your case on Embassy / portal pages — do not treat eVisa as mandatory for every short tourist trip.

The Royal Thai Embassy (Washington, D.C.) states:
- All visa applications must be submitted through the e-Visa portal (https://thaievisa.go.th/).
- Applicants are no longer required to mail documents; the Embassy does not accept walk-in or drop-off for visa services at the moment.

Timing and confirmation email

TDAC is still required
