Egypt e-Visa Rejected or Not Granted: What US Travelers Should Do Next

Short answer: After you pay, the Egypt e-Visa Portal processes your application and sends an email with the current application status. Official pages do not describe an appeal form. A visa โ€” including an e-Visa โ€” does not guarantee entry; Egyptian port authorities may refuse admission without explanation. If you remain eligible, a new e-Visa application may make sense โ€” create it at least 7 days before departure. For visa issues or arrival-visa concerns, Travel.State.Gov points to an Egyptian embassy or consulate before travel โ€” see the embassy visa guide. Stand: 14 August 2026.

When an e-Visa outcome is negative

Start with the email you received after processing โ€” that is the status channel the portal home page describes.

What you see What official pages say Practical next step
Email with application status after processing The portal home page states you receive an email with the current application status once processing finishes Read that message carefully; do not rely on unofficial status labels
Application not granted / incomplete outcome No appeal form appears on the portal FAQ, portal home, or Travel.State.Gov Egypt entry page If still eligible, consider a new e-Visa โ€” or the consular path below
Still on the eligible list United States nationals may be issued an e-Visa upon application on the portal Confirm eligibility on the live portal before reapplying

Third-party โ€œappeal deskโ€ services are not described on the official pages checked for this guide.

What the official portal says about processing

The Egypt e-Visa Portal home page states:

  • After you complete the application and pay, your application will be processed
  • As soon as processing finishes, you receive an email with the current application status

Apply timing: create an e-Visa application at least 7 days before departure.

The portal FAQ does not state that the visa fee is non-refundable. Check your payment confirmation and the live portal for any refund rule โ€” do not assume either a refund or a non-refundable policy unless the official channel says so.

Entry refusal at the port

Two different problems get mixed up:

  1. Application outcome โ€” communicated by the status email after processing
  2. Port / immigration refusal โ€” can happen even if you hold an e-Visa

The Egypt e-Visa Portal FAQ states that Egyptian port authorities have the right to refuse entry to an e-Visa holder without any explanation โ€” as with other visas.

Travel.State.Gov likewise notes that having a visa does not guarantee entry into Egypt, and that Egyptian immigration officials occasionally have denied entry to travelers without explanation.

A new e-Visa application does not rewrite a port refusal. Treat arrival denial as a border issue, not the same as an application-status email.

Embassy or consular path for visa issues

Travel.State.Gov: U.S. citizens with visa issues, or arrival visa concerns, may apply for a visa at an Egyptian embassy or consulate before traveling.

That is the official consular sticker route โ€” jurisdiction, walk-in hours, and consular fees are on the Embassy visa-requirements page. Step-by-step context for US travelers: Egypt embassy visa โ€” when e-Visa is not the path.

Consular filing is official DIY. my-evisas.com assists electronic e-Visa applications only.

Reapplying for an e-Visa

A new electronic application may make sense when:

  • You remain a United States national on the e-Visa eligible list
  • The problem looks like the application outcome โ€” not a port refusal after you already held an e-Visa
  • You can still apply at least 7 days before departure

FAQ

What if my Egypt e-Visa is rejected or not granted?

Read the application-status email. Official pages do not describe an appeal form. Port authorities may refuse entry without explanation even with an e-Visa. If still eligible, a new application may be appropriate โ€” apply at least 7 days before departure.

Is there an e-Visa appeal form?

Not on the Egypt portal FAQ, portal home, or Travel.State.Gov Egypt entry page.

Can I re-apply?

If you remain eligible, the issue looks fixable on a new electronic application, and you still have at least 7 days before departure, reapplying may make sense. Confirm on the live portal.

Does an e-Visa guarantee entry?

No. Port authorities / immigration may refuse or deny entry without explanation.

Is the visa fee refunded if the application is not granted?

The portal FAQ does not say the fee is non-refundable. Check your payment confirmation and the live portal.

When should I use the embassy path instead?

For visa issues or arrival-visa concerns before travel, see Egypt embassy visa.
