When an e-Visa outcome is negative
Start with the email you received after processing — that is the status channel the portal home page describes.

What the official portal says about processing
The Egypt e-Visa Portal home page states:
- After you complete the application and pay, your application will be processed
- As soon as processing finishes, you receive an email with the current application status
Apply timing: create an e-Visa application at least 7 days before departure.
The portal FAQ does not state that the visa fee is non-refundable. Check your payment confirmation and the live portal for any refund rule — do not assume either a refund or a non-refundable policy unless the official channel says so.

Entry refusal at the port
Two different problems get mixed up:
- Application outcome — communicated by the status email after processing
- Port / immigration refusal — can happen even if you hold an e-Visa
The Egypt e-Visa Portal FAQ states that Egyptian port authorities have the right to refuse entry to an e-Visa holder without any explanation — as with other visas.
Travel.State.Gov likewise notes that having a visa does not guarantee entry into Egypt, and that Egyptian immigration officials occasionally have denied entry to travelers without explanation.
A new e-Visa application does not rewrite a port refusal. Treat arrival denial as a border issue, not the same as an application-status email.
