What the East Africa Tourist Visa covers
Per Uganda’s official East African Tourist Visa page:
- Travel to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda ONLY
- Tourism only — employment is prohibited
- Can be used multiple times for tourism within the rules of that visa
- Valid for 90 days; not renewable upon expiry or upon exit from the Kenya–Uganda–Rwanda block
- Also described as granted for 3 months from the date of issue and not extendable within the country
Tanzania (and other neighbours) are not covered by that Uganda page’s “ONLY” list — plan separate research if your trip includes them.

First entry / issuing country — confirm official
Uganda Immigration states: the issuing country should be your first entry point. Apply through the official immigration / e-visa channel of the country where you will enter the block first.
On the Uganda page (accessed 29 July 2026), the fee payable is USD 100 (fees non-refundable; bank charges may apply). Document lists commonly include passport bio-data (6+ months validity), photo, yellow-fever vaccination certificate, return ticket, and travel itinerary — confirm the live checklist on the portal you use.
Important for US travelers after Kenya’s eTA change: Kenya’s Embassy in Washington, D.C. states that etakenya.go.ke replaced evisa.go.ke on 5 January 2024. Do not assume an old “Kenya first-entry EATV” flow still works unchanged. Confirm current multi-country rules on the official site of your first entry country (and Kenya Embassy / Immigration guidance if Kenya is first).
