US citizens need a visa to enter Cambodia. If you want to arrange yours before departure, Cambodia's e-Visa is an online option. Air travelers also need to consider the separate e-Arrival declaration: completing it does not give you a visa. Start with the question that matches your trip below.

Short answer

  • Need a visa before travel? Start with the Cambodia e-Visa guide. The official application channel is evisa.gov.kh.
  • Entering overland from Thailand? Check whether your checkpoint is open to passengers before asking whether it accepts e-Visa or offers visa on arrival in the land-border guide.
  • Cambodian-American or born abroad to a Cambodian parent? Check whether K-Class eligibility changes your route in the Tourist eVisa or K-Class Visa guide.
  • Completing arrival information? The e-Arrival card is a separate declaration, including for travelers who already have a visa.

Decision help โ€” which Cambodia entry path?

If you want your visa arranged before departure, use the e-Visa guide to follow the official online application route. The Cambodian government recommends obtaining a visa before travel, according to the U.S. Department of State. That recommendation gives you a reason to examine the pre-travel route, but it does not choose a visa path for your particular trip.

If you plan to enter Cambodia overland from Thailand, start with the land-border guide: an e-Visa or visa-on-arrival option does not help when the intended checkpoint is not open to ordinary passengers. If Cambodian status or Cambodian parentage may apply, use the Tourist eVisa or K-Class Visa guide; visiting Cambodian relatives or having a Cambodian spouse does not by itself establish K-Class eligibility. Once you have addressed the visa route, use the e-Arrival guide for the separate arrival declaration.

FAQ

Does the pre-travel visa recommendation mean I must use the e-Visa?

The recommendation to obtain a visa before travel does not, by itself, establish that the online e-Visa is your only option. For a Thailand land crossing, read the checkpoint-first guide. If Cambodian status or parentage may change the route, read the K-Class eligibility guide.

Can I extend a tourist stay in Cambodia?

Check the current extension rules with Cambodian immigration before making plans that depend on a longer stay.
