For most short tourism or business trips, United States of America passport holders need a Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival — apply through the official portal at eta.gov.lk. From 25 May 2026, the United States of America is among 40 countries that may receive a free-of-charge 30-day tourist ETA, but you must still obtain approval before you travel.
